Do you see what my poor flamingo has had to endure? At first glance it may appear to be bleeding. Don’t be alarmed. No blood was shed.
Apparently, while I slept peacefully, a human walked outside to find a squirrel standing on my poor flamingo’s back to steal the blackberries.
I don’t know if you can see them in this picture, but there are tiny footprints leading away from the scene of the crime.
That red pawed bandit is lucky I love squirrels.
On a side note, I posted this from my phone. My computer expert downloaded the app for me and I was finally able to upload pictures with one step. I am also enjoying the feature where the words come up automatically.
If I keep this up, I might be my own computer expert.
Also, I picked all the ripe berries to save my flamingo’s poor aching back.
Thank heavens you were able to pick those berries off the poor dear’s back!

I know it! Ours aren’t fruiting yet. I think it was August before they fruited last year…

I have many more than last year. It may be because I weeded the garden or because we get rain every day. Either way I am happy. I learned to put them on my tongue and squish them so no seeds get in my teeth.

LOL Oh I gobble them up! I’m lucky to get half of what I pick into the house!
Now that you mention the rains, I think I’ll check them again tomorrow!

Oooh, you ever can any blackberry jelly?

I used to make jelly and syrup, sometimes with mint. I have made pies but this is the first time in a long time I have eaten them. I don’t have enough to make jelly, plus I am trying to avoid sugar.

How weird. I was just thinking to myself on the way home from work – “I wonder how the flock of pink flamingos are doing. I come home and find the “Reader” thingy has changed and a flamingo has met with an untimely demise. This is awful, really, really awful.

It survived, just a little stained. Of course it is raining again so it will be clean soon.

I am trying, but I am not doing as well as I would like. Every time I empty the bucket from the window air conditioner that takes water out of the air I say these words, “Please send this to California.” I wish I had mad magical abilities!

YAY!!!!! Thank-you!!!! It’s a little sad at first, but I think you will really enjoy it!!! Let me know what you think of it. Who is going to watch the flamingos while you are away?

Oh, one of my humans is staying home to keep them and my beast in line. I could tell it would be sad, I also suspect it will make me think. I am looking forward to it.

Oh good, I am glad the flamingos will be okay, don’t want anymore mishaps.
Again, thank-you for taking the time to read my book – I am in the throes of doing research for next one – set in an Australian boarding school – should be fun to write!!!!

It has survived, just a little more colorful. Thank you for thinking of them even away from the computer.
