February Cleansing

There is a gentle rain outside. It was supposed to be warm and dry and the chimney was supposed to be swept today, but instead it is cool and rainy.

As I go about my day, I can’t help but think it is a gentle cleansing of the world. We need rain in our lives, and the gentle kind is refreshing. It is much better than downpours that wash away the land, or snow that hinders us from traveling. I know many people like snow because it is pretty and you might enjoy winter sports, but I am not one of those people. Gentle rain is just fine with me.

It is a holiday of sorts here because the real holiday fell on a Sunday. I have nowhere to go and enjoyed being able to sleep in. Tomorrow I will have to wake at the crack of dawn, but today I slept. Rain always makes sleeping easier because the sun does not come out to tell me it is daytime. I can pretend it is still night and get a good amount of sleep.

My thought for February is that it is going to be a month when all our troubles are washed away and everything will be bright and amazing. I took a bath using the lavender oil I bought for Christmas. It says it is soothing. Seemed quite appropriate for a cleansing day. I hope February really is soothing.

The beast doesn’t like walking in the rain, but he does need to go sometimes. I have once again started to use the Pokemon game while walking. Two of my siblings have fit bits and are often telling me when they reach their 10,000 steps. Yesterday, while on our sibling walk, I proudly announced that I hatched an egg. It may not be the same thing, I don’t know how many steps I walk while hatching eggs though I do know the kilometers. Somehow walking is fun when you’re hatching eggs.

Today I found something interesting while walking back to the house.

A Rattata is on the pile of flamingos. I already took pictures of the pile and was mentally compiling a list of ideas about flamingo posts before I saw this Rattata. This cemented the deal. February is going to be a month of flamingos. I will post a picture of them each day with a brief summary/story. It’s a good thing February is the shortest month of the year!

Uh Oh, It might be an interesting month. Seems this Rattata is following me around.

At least it isn’t a real rat. Reminds me of my book, Sentenced to Castle County, because the main character sees things other people don’t. Maybe it’s just an app. 🙂

I agree on the rain. Personally, I’m glad my kids gave up the hunt for Pokemon, but if it gets ya walkin with a smile on yer face, well then, it’s a good thing! 🙂
