Some people want to have the best view possible when they travel, especially when staying on ocean front property. We usually enjoy a nice view of the ocean.
Isn’t it pretty? After writing a recent post about clouds, I now notice there aren’t any clouds in this picture. Still, at the beach clouds are not my primary focus. I just love the ocean.
This picture is from our winter hotel. The fact that there are so few people on the beach is an indicator that it is not the summer. In the summer it is unlikely that one could look in any direction without seeing quite a few people.
In the summer we spend most of our time by the pool or on the beach. We spend very little time in our room and the time we spent there is either sleeping, getting ready for the night life, or watching television.
Our last vacation came with quite a view. It wasn’t the view most would want, but we felt safe having the windows open without fear of being viewed by others outside. Not quite an idealistic view, but certainly interesting.
Which view do you prefer?
Well I prefer the ocean, of course. If I had the narrow alley view, I think I’d close the drapes all the time. In fact, I’m sure I would.
But then, I seldom get a room based on the view. Usually none of that matters.
Twice I can think of we chose based on view. Cottages at Sanibel when The Mister and I escape, and last summer in Sarasota. In Sarasota, we not only paid for the view, but paid extra for breakfast with a view — and I thought it was a nice day. Had it rained, well, I’da been grumpy! lol

We had the curtains open for sunlight. You know I need sun. I am glad it didn’t rain on your view.

I think I’d rather have the ocean view, but I’ve had many stays when my view was the parking lot or the building next door.

I would prefer the ocean view as well, but not enough to justify the extra $1000 (actually, I think it was more than $1000) during the summer when I am rarely in the room. I would question the need for a window looking over a brick wall, but at least it let in light.

The first for sure. If we’re renting a room, I always insist on ocean front. No side view or any of that! Watching the ocean is my fav part of going to the beach, so it’s worth it.

Watching the ocean or being in the ocean? I prefer being in it and that doesn’t involve a window. In winter I get the view because I know watching is great when being in it is insane.

Watching. I get nervous about not seeing what’s in the water. I prefer watching under the shade on the beach but love watching from the balcony too!

Please get your feet wet. There is nothing ankle deep that is worse than walking through a field of tall grass.

Oh, I’ll get in that much, just not one for actually swimming in it.

oooh – I don’t think I would like to be paying for a hotel room and looking at a concrete wall. More often than not, I get a parking lot, but a wall? Whoa, I hope the room was deeply discounted.

It was fine by me. I don’t spend much time in the room. The truth is, I want the larger room more than the view. But I do like a view in the winter when I spend more time in it.
