Another Strange Dream

Last night I had a strange dream. I was in Mexico at some resort for some conference. The idea of being in Mexico was not surprising. I am trying to learn Spanish using the Duolingo app on my phone. There has been a lot of talk at home about vacationing in Cancun (If only I was wealthy!), and I have spent a lot of time day dreaming about going on tour for my book – which hasn’t even been published!

So the dream about being in Mexico for a conference makes perfect sense.

What did not make sense was that I was there alone. No, I was not completely alone as I was with a large group of strangers who were all there for the conference. Still, I was alone in that I had no family with me. I was not with the person who keeps talking about Cancun. How peculiar that I would go somewhere without the person who wants so much to go.

Anyway, I could explain that part of the dream. What might not be so easily explained is the part where I realized I had no money and I forgot three things.

  1. My license
  2. My passport (I don’t even have a passport)
  3. My plane ticket

So, there I was in Mexico with a bunch of strangers and totally terrified because I had no way to get home. I was just starting to panic. I was getting ready to call home and ask for my stuff to be mailed to me but I other problems.

  1. where would it be sent?
  2. how could I get them by that afternoon for my flight?
  3. how could I possibly ask for the person I had left behind to save me?

It was the last thought that caused me to awaken. I stayed in bed pondering the strange dream. What did it mean?

Then I realized it all stemmed from a feeling of insecurity. I practiced what I preached.

  1. I focused on breathing
  2. I told myself I have everything that I need
  3. I focused on breathing
  4. I told myself I have everything that I need……

I kept doing that until finally I fell back to sleep.

Our dreams tell us something. It is wonderful when we have great dreams in which we are happily having wonderful adventures. But they don’t always. Sometimes they are trying to tell us what we need to understand.

I must need to understand I have everything I need. I will try to convince myself of that throughout the day.

Do you think it is telling me I need a passport?

I am a dreamer who loves to explore the world through words. I hope to inspire others to live in peace and be their best selves. I also have an affinity for flamingos, gnomes, and all things magical. They live happily in my gardens.

It might be telling you that you need a place to stay in Mexico – one never really can tell.

Hi Manee, that is a strange dream. Perhaps you will go to a Writer’s Conference in Cancun in the near future. I have had dreams where I was completely trapped in a foreign country with no way out. Very scary!!!! But at least you can wake up. It is such a relief after you have forced yourself to wake up and you realize you are safe and sound in your own bed.
    How is the book coming?

I once dreamt I was hitchhiking in the deserts of Mexico. I finally stopped to eat and I was served some dreadful food, like cactus in casaba melon juice or something. I was very thirsty and the waitress kept taking my drink. I woke up parched, but so glad to be cool 🙂
