Wouldn’t it be lovely if there were a huge feast where everyone could sit down to eat together?
Imagine tables spread all across the world with comfortable chairs surrounding them. Some of the chairs would be formal, others just plain benches and still others cushions on the floor, the tables would have to be lower for those seats. Everyone would sit upon whatever made them feel the most comfortable.
The food would be varied, some just vegetables, some with pork, beef, or chicken, or seafood. There would be no complaints about what others ate. There would just be food aplenty for everyone to eat and enjoy until they were well satisfied. Nobody would leave the table hungry.
And there would be beverages, whatever the people wanted to drink, whatever quenched their thirst. Everyone would just lift their glasses and toast the wonderful food and drink and most importantly they would toast each other and their great fortune at being able to sit together.
Imagine that through some magic or great feat people from different backgrounds, different countries and cultures, different religions, and different age groups were intermixed at each table.
There might be a table full of people who all would normally be afraid of each other based solely on the stories they had been told about such people from certain countries, religions, or races. They might even fear that someone’s homelessness or homosexuality, or cancer might be contagious in any other circumstance, yet at this feast to outshine all other celebrations, the diners simply turn to the people next to each other and introduce themselves.
Imagine if everyone said, hello, my name is and continued to have fellowship with each other in a non-judgmental manner. It could be possible for at this table everyone is equal. Everyone is being fed exactly what they find the most delectable. Nobody is a second-class citizen. Nobody is left out.
Do you think you would come away from that table appreciating the others with whom you dined? Do you think the world would be a little better in the days following that feast because people did not look down on others or turn away from people in fear based on ignorance?
I know there is no way such a feast could exist. We could not get every human together in peace to share a feast. I even have my doubts that everyone would join in if they could.
Still, I wish we could. I wish we could lift our glasses filled with water, milk, soda, wine, beer, or whatever and say CHEERS and SALUTE and all those wonderful things because the world would be a better place.

I’d love that, too. I enjoy sampling a variety of people as much as I like sampling a variety of food. A prayer for contentment, that’s what this post is.

Oh, I agree. But now you have me thinking about all the foods we could sample from different lands. Yes contentment is what we need.

It is called communist government getting out of the lives of individuals. There was no problem until the UN and its agenda 21 came into edu, healthcare, your local police too!
